Congrats to us! There are indeed FREE tools for us to use to get our businesses FREE PR! As the holidays approach, look for any opportunity to be seen and learn not to be shy. This can be your make-it-or-break-it moment. Some of you have put years of development into your product as well as thousands of dollars! Don’t delay, jump, even if you aren’t ready!

Read below for 3 FREE tools that I have used and a few of the pitches in my past as an entrepreneur and product developer over the past 25 years.

PR is important no matter what stage your business may be in! You need to be able to spring into action at any given moment and be able to pitch or even give away your product in seconds. Thankfully, both of our past inventions were small and could fit in my bag.

I’ll share a few quick stories about how we were blessed with opportunity:

Way before our first business was even up and running, I answered an interview request on Facebook from Consumer Reports. They wanted to discuss lead and cadmium in products and the dangers of ordering from China. Unfortunately for us, as we were developing FortuneKeeper, we received a large batch of beads that my brother Tim suspected were lead due to the unusual weight. We were promised no lead, and as a mom, it was important to me to provide a product that was safe! I reached out to tell them the story of how we were lied to and couldn’t return thousands of beads. Next thing you knew, we had a film crew coming to the house to interview us! We were not even open, and our name was out there already as a brand that cares!

Another time that turned into a TV appearance was when I went up to a field reporter filming a clip in Brooklyn. I gifted her a Vented In Brooklyn bracelet and told her how we gifted cancer patients with every purchase. I was polite, upbeat, energetic, and we had a great conversation. She took back that bracelet to the studio and pitched it to her producers, and they loved it and came to the house yet once again to film us. We were just in business, and it helped us gain future customers and many other opportunities!

I have used Featured in many different ways. When I was having breast cancer fundraisers, I reached out for swag bag sponsors. Brands are always looking for opportunities to show that they give back to the community; it’s a win-win for both parties. When I was working on branding and marketing for a medical office, I responded to “medical advice experts needed” and got the doctor's name in published magazines, showing his patients that he was the pro. You may have to answer a lot of inquiries before you get anywhere, so be prepared and save your replies, and make sure you mark your specialties down in the app.

The key takeaway is to have confidence in yourself and what you're offering! I'm certain you'll achieve success. Consider utilizing one or all of the tools below to make your brand stand out.

When opportunity arises, what should you do? Simply post it once? Absolutely not! Share it repeatedly and revamp it to capture everyone's attention! We reused clips from two other TV appearances multiple times 👇

My old product FortuneKeeper was featured by Bobbie Thomas on the Today Show, and we received a huge jump in sales that holiday season. We were also once seen in a clip of Two and a Half Men (Ashton Kutcher was holding a keychain in bed, and it was ours!), and we rode that by sharing a photo at the Holiday Market at Union Square. It gave us something to talk about with our potential customers instead of starting with our pitch, and it really helped boost our sales; people thought it was cool. Side note here: I asked people what they like others to say when they enter a store, and oh my, my friends had opinions! We will discuss that at a later date…but for now, do your homework and sign up for these FREE tools below. 👇
